Summer Talk Series in Ethics

Gwen Bradford (Rice) has organized a Summer Talk Series in Ethics (subtitle: Cogito Ergo Zoom) that is open to all. She is to be congratulated for this significant achievement. Talks will take place Thursdays starting at 3 pm (Eastern). Mark Schroeder (USC) will kick the series off July 9th with “Person as an Evaluative Concept.” Elizabeth Anderson’s (Michigan) talk is on July 23rd and will be “Can We Talk: Communicating Moral Concern in an Era of Polarized Politics.” You can sign up to get e-mails and the Zoom links you will need to join here.

I very much hope we will see many more such open events and that departments that are having Zoom talks in the Fall consider making them available to a wider audience. For some thoughts about how this might work look here. Such online open talks can be publicized here.

  1. We would very much welcome those with other talk series that are open to the public posting in the comments section here.

  2. Hey!
I have been doing a virtual metaethics colloquium for the last few months. We meet every other Tuesday at 4pm GMT (that is Noon Eastern, 11 Central).
We don’t have a cool website (this is +1 for perfectionism, I blame my laziness on my hedonism), but it has been great fun thus far – we’ve had speakers from four(!) continents, including people like ZoĆ« Johnson King and Andrew Sepielli.
Everyone is welcome! If you are interested in getting added to the mailing list, shoot me an e-mail at pjwerner1 AT gmail.com

    Coming up, we have:
July 14th – James Fritz (Virginia Commonwealth)
July 21st – Aaron Elliott (Lawrence University)
    August 4 – TBA
August 18 – Nicole Dular (Franklin College)
